WalthersProto 50' Sieco Pulpwood Flatcar - CSX #408485 - HO ScaleBased on a prototype constructed by the Southern Iron and Equipment Company (SIECO) beginning in the 1960s, these purpose built cars served well into the 2000s hauling pulpwood between the pulp landings in the woods and the paper mills. The open cars featured a V sloped deck and tall bulkheads at each end of the car to keep the load in place. This is a one time run of these roadnumbers. Good finish, poor hardware.
Set screws are poor quality and are sometimes powdercoated on the exposed threads. Leads to striped hex sockets and inability to tighten properly.
Durable finish as evidenced by no visible damage after throwing parts across the shop in frustration.
Ended up running self tapping screws thru parts to complete assembly.
