His company started by way of modifying a Boss Blues Driver, and he often cites Boss as an influence in his designs. The Clover is a faithful recreation of the rare Boss FA 1 preamp. The original Boss design was battery powered and featured controls for volume, bass, and treble only. JHS takes that design and adds mods and features all the while tributing the original FA 1 in knob style
