Cometic Opel C16XE/X16XE/X16XEL/Y16XE 82mm .036 inch MLS Head GasketThe Cometic MLS gasket is comprised of three to five layers of stainless steel. Cometic uses stainless steel for increased strength, its ability to rebound and resist corrosion. The outer layers of the gasket are embossed and coated on both sides with a Viton rubber material designed to meet the demands of a variety of harsh sealing environments, load conditions and surface finishes. The Viton coating is heat resistant to 250C or 482F.

Called around for quotes to get them replaced and everyone was quoting over $2k just for bellows. Figured I’d give it a try. The rubber is good quality and feels soft. Time will tell but this is an easy job if you’re mechanically inclined. Make sure you replace the plastic water pickup fitting while you’re at it. Found mine to be cracked on disassembly and had to wait for a new one. Should be a easy 3-4 hour job if your not doing the bearing and only doing bellows
