The superior backing more than justifies the additional cost over lesser "X" weight backings in their longer belt life and their ability to be washed furthering the savings. The grinders are working fine, though I have only used them for a couple of days. Their size is a little smaller than I would like for in kitchen cooking, but I got them knowing they will work better in a planned move with a smaller kitchen. Good size for a table. I'm happy with the clean, simple appearance and the quality so far. Just ordered a second set for white and mixed color peppercorns and will donate the sort of hodge podge assortment of grinders I currently use.
