I purchased this book for my kids to read as it gets closer to Christmas. I specifically chose it because of the old world charm it has. I love the black and white sketches and the fact that the outdoor scenes of brownstones were illustrated from Boston brownstones, where we used to live. This book is just a classic and the illustrations have such depth and emotion. There is that quality and detail you can only get from black and white..and from an amazing illustrator. Lovely book.
