After trying a lot of Amazon matcha brands, I honestly think people expecting this to taste super sweet or creamy might be misunderstanding what traditional Japanese matcha is supposed to taste like. This one has more of that genuine, earthy, slightly umami flavor that I usually experience at Japanese matcha cafes. Mine was fresh, smooth, and produced a really delightful latte. It definitely wasnโ€™t โ€œfishyโ€ like some reviews suggested. I also noticed some people complained about bitterness, but using water thatโ€™s too hot can ruin almost any matcha. Once I prepared it correctly, the flavor was balanced and clean. For the price, I actually think itโ€™s a pretty solid everyday ceremonial-style matcha.

I will say the only complaint I have is that the spout design could use some work; the end of it doesn't come out far enough so it dribbles a bit when you try to pour. Also, and maybe this is to be expected due to the use of natural materials, but there are a couple of small split pieces/splinters on the chasen (whisk) I had to trim. Otherwise perfect!
