Jahrhunderts in Ostsachsen im Gebiet der Oberlausitz bekannt ist. Bei Recherchen der Pomologen kam zutage, dass der Nelkenapfel erstmals 1835 in der Zeitschrift Opora im Zusammenhang mit der Herstellung von Apfelwein in Nieder Rengersdorf erwhnt wurde. 1865 beschrieben in dem Illustrierten Handbuch der Bayrischen Staatsbibliothek Grlitzer Nelkenapfel (S. 459,
