Das dornig gezhnte Blatt hat im Sommer eine grne Frbung und prsentiert im Herbst ein rotgefrbtes Herbstlaub. Der Wuchs ist langsam und schn kompakt mit 5 bis 15 cm Zuwachs pro Jahr. Die Pflanze trgt nach der Blte purpurschwarze Beeren und eignet sich als Zierstrauch und fr die Einzelstellung.
