The base is solid pieces of metal, and it stands very sturdy. It's also light enough for me to move it around in my office to serve different purposes. I like the color and the quality of the fabric. Surprisingly, it can also deflect the air coming down from the AC vent behind my desk. I didn't expect it to 100% soundproofing (not its purpose), but I feel it did absorb some humming sound from my mini fridge behind my desk. I would recommend this to my colleague.
